Can you see me now?

This morning Mister T and I spent several fabulous hours at a new garden center.  I was inspired by all the brightly painted garden fences they had as displays and thought how much fun it would be to add some color in our back yard with painted fence sections.

As soon as we got home I dropped everything I should have been doing in order to start planting some of the newly purchased flowers, because really, who needs to plant the several hundred plants already waiting to go in the back gardens?  My yard is one huge HOT MESS of half completed projects!

I started to plant my large urns at the end of the driveway today and realized they were just ugly and boring.  Hauling the pots out from behind the garage was like pulling out that once favorite clothing item several seasons later---blah!

When I purchased them several years ago, we didn't have all the rocks underneath and the gray/white color actually had a little pop.  The urns have also been the unfortunate victims of several hit and run accidents as vehicles are backed out of the driveway.  If you look closely you can see where one handle had already been glued back on.

Suddenly it hit me, why not spray paint the pots in a bright color like the fences today at the garden center and give the front of the house a big 'ole pop of color?   I had already purchased the flowers this morning so I decided to go for a contrasting green.  My hope had been for celery green or apple green.  After scouring Walmart and Home Depot, the closest color I could find was kiwi green.  Yikes!  I decided to be daring and really for $3.48 for a can of paint, why not?

It took all of five minutes and one can to do both pots.  Once Miss M found out the color I had chosen (which happens to be her favorite color), I had to fight her for the can of paint.

Within 30 minutes they were dry and I was able to move the pots back onto the rocks and plant them.

And then the crazy idea came that the pots needed a little more color and height on top to balance out the green and voila........

God bless pink flamingos that we keep on hand to mark the turn off to our street from the highway when we have people over to the house.  Maybe I will take the flamingos out once the flowers fill in.  Then again, maybe not.

I can't stop laughing everytime I look at the end of the drive.
